Another day, another musician says his next album will be his last. The latest is singer The-Dream.

The singer is preparing the release of his third studio LP, entitled Love King, and he says it’ll be his final album.

Is his comments strictly for publicity or is he serious?

Earlier this week, he told MTV the latter … sort of.

“It’s the last album, period,” The-Dream says. “I really would like it to be the last one if I could — in a perfect world.”

The Atlanta native has dropped two albums in his solo career — 2007’s Love Hate and 2008’s Love vs. Money. But, he’s also an accomplished producer and songwriter. The songwriting hat is a part of why he wants to finish his run as a solo artist, he tells MTV.

But, he admits he’s not 100% on the idea.

“In the back of my mind, I’m thinking a fighter fights,” Dream told MTV. “You don’t retire on top. [Michael] Jordan didn’t retire on top. I’m not saying I’m the best [like him], but I’m the best at what I can do. And I can stop now and say, ‘This album is pretty good.’ “

We’ll have to wait to see if he follows through with his plans.

Love King didn’t have a release date at press time. On his official website, it says “New album spring 2010.”
