Boxers Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have yet to come to an agreement on the terms of a proposed bout. At least they can come to an agreement about the defamation lawsuit Pacquiao hit Mayweather with three years ago.
Manny Pacquiao filed a defamation suit against Mayweather for alleging he used performance-boosting drugs. The pair finally put their differences aside and settled out of court. Legal documents were filed on both of the athletes’ behalf stating the legal beef between the two had been settled. The documents filed also found an agreement from Pacquiao to drop the lawsuit entirely. Terms of the arrangement haven’t been disclosed, but we do know part of the agreement was for both parties to pay their own legal bills.
After the documents filed filed in court, Mayweather and his father released a statement saying they “wish to make it clear that they never intended to claim that Manny Pacquiao has used or is using any performance-enhancing drugs.”
Although the terms of the agreement weren’t disclosed, we think that apology had something to do with it.
