While the music industry was occupied with the Grammys over the weekend, most people were taking advantage of the weekend for some early Valentine’s Day dates, and headed to the movies to see Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston’s new romantic comedy, “Just Go With It,” which helped it top the box office.

“Go With It” beat out the Justin Bieber doc, “Never Say Never”, and the animated “Gnomeo and Juliet”, in a close race for the #1 spot, but all well beyond the period action “The Eagle.”

The Sandler film opened with $31 million, while the documentary about Bieber’s journey to fame came in right behind it with $30 million to take #2.

“Just Go With It” stars Sandler and Aniston as pals posing as a soon-to-be-divorced couple.

Bieber’s doc exceeded expectations and nearly matched the $31.1 million opening of 2008’s “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert,” the record-holder for music-documentary debuts.

Another love story, Disney’s animated adventure “Gnomeo & Juliet,” opened solidly at #3 with $25.5 million. The movie features the voices of Emily Blunt and James McAvoy in a twist on “Romeo and Juliet” told with garden gnomes.

And Focus Features’ ancient Roman saga, “The Eagle,” closes out the top 5 with $8.6 million. It stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell on a quest into the wilds of 2nd century Scotland.

That’s a wrap for this weekend. Next weekend, look out for the release of Martin Lawrence’s third film in the “Big Momma” series called “Like Father, Like Son”, the sci-fi adventure “I Am Number Four”, and the drama/thriller “Unknown” starring Liam Neeson.

This weekend’s top 10 is as follows:

1 – “Just Go With It,” $31 million.

2 – “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never,” $30.3 million.

3 – “Gnomeo & Juliet,” $25.5 million.

5 – “The Roommate,” $8.4 million.

6 – “The King’s Speech,” $7.4 million.

7 – “No Strings Attached,” $5.6 million.
