It’s wasn’t the biggest weekend at movie theaters the past three days, but enough people wanted a little horror in their lives to give Anthony Hopkins new flick, “The Rite”, the top spot at this weekend’s box office.

The “Exorcist”-influenced movie — which has an American priest traveling to Italy to study at an exorcism school helmed by Hopkins — earned $15 million to bumped the previous weekend’s top movie, “No Strings Attached,” as well as other Oscar-nominated films.

Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman’s “No Strings Attached” fell to #2 this week, earning $13.6 million.

The other debut this weekend, CBS Films’ action film, “The Mechanic,” starring Jason Statham and Ben Foster, opened with $11.5 million to tie for third place with superhero film “The Green Hornet.”

“The King’s Speech” comes in at #5 with $11.1 million, seeing the biggest increase after Oscar nominations were announced Tuesday, jumping 41 percent from its performance last weekend.

And rounding at the top 5 was “True Grit” with $76 million, as it nears the $150 million mark.

That’s a wrap for this weekend. Next weekend, look out for the release of the Sony thriller “The Roommate,” and James Cameron’s new “Sanctum” film in 3D.
