Sister Of Prince, Tyka Nelson, Passed Away At 64

Tyka Nelson, the only full sibling of the icon Prince, has died at the age of 64. It is unknown the cause of her death.

Her son, President Nelson, confirmed that his mother passed on Monday morning. Nelson’s cousin, Charles “Chazz” Smith, shared a heartfelt tribute on facebook saying “Our family is very saddened to share the news of my cousin Tyka Evene Nelson who passed away this morning.”

Before her passing, Tyka was responsible to preserving her brothers legacy. She was the one who played a crucial role in transforming Prince’s recording studio and concert venue, Paisley Park, into a museum to honor his life and artistry.

Tyka Nelson and Prince Roger’s Nelson were the only children of John Nelson and Mattie Della Shaw Baker. Both Tyka and Prince shared five half siblings. After Prince’s passing, her and the five half siblings had a legal battle between where Princes’ assets. Between Tyka and the five siblings, they split the assets 50/50.
