The animated “Toy Story 3” did it again, topping the box office over new flicks from Adam Sandler and Tom Cruise in its second week.

The Disney-Pixar smash remained at #1 for the second weekend in a row, earning another $59 million raising its domestic total to $226.6 million.

Sandler’s new “Grown Ups” comedy wasn’t too far behind. It came in at #2 with $41 million. The film also stars Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider. It fared well despite a thrashing from critics.

Tom Cruise’s new thriller “Knight and Day”, also starring Cameron Diaz, landed at #3 with just $20.5 million. It was the worst debut for a Cruise action flick in 20 years, said reports, since the 1990 race-car thriller “Days of Thunder,” which pulled in $15.5 million but played in 800 fewer theaters.

“Knight and Day” features Cruise as a charming spy who finds romance with a civilian (Cameron Diaz) on a globe-trotting adventure.

Coming in at #4 was “The Karate Kid” with $15.4 million it its third weekend, taking its domestic total to $135.6 million.

And, “The A-Team” rounds out the top 5 with $6 million.

That wraps things up this weekend. Next weekend, look out for the release of the new fantasy film “The Last Airbender,” and of course, the highly anticipated, third “Twilight” film “Eclipse.”
