The American Idol third-season champ received an honorary degree from Andrews High School in High Point, NC on Saturday, CBS’ WFMY-TV Greensboro affiliate reported.
Barrino attended the school as a teenager but subsequently dropped out when she became pregnant at the age of 16. She subsequently gave birth to her daughter Zion in August 2001.
Barrino attended Saturday’s graduation ceremony at the Greensboro Coliseum and donned a cap and gown as she walked with the high school’s Class of 2010.
VH1 renewed Fantasia for Real, a reality series that follows Barrino as she balances her personal and professional lives, for a second season in April.
It is currently slated to premiere later this year.
