Aaron D. Spears, co-star in BET’s acclaimed series Being Mary Jane reveals how working as a teacher helped him in his journey to become an actor.
He recalls moving to California to pursue an acting career, but with the demands of being a father, he worked as a teacher to provide for his family. While this experience was humbling and initially perceived as a setback, his change of plans turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Through teaching he realized the importance of being present and appreciative of your circumstances. He credits these lessons as the catalyst to his current success.
Aaron encourages us to be fearless in the pursuit of our dreams. “Anything you put your mind to you’re capable of accomplishing,” he urges. The key is to believe in one’s self says Aaron, “because if you don’t believe, why should anyone else?”
