BOULDER, Colorado – A 12-year-old Colorado girl is accused of poisoning her mother – twice – because the mother took her cell phone away as a punishment.
The girl is being held in a juvenile detention center after a two-week investigation, according to KDVR.
The girls’ mother had noticed a bleach smell in her glass while drinking a smoothie, but thought that her daughter had cleaned the glass and simply had not rinsed it well enough. That’s why even though she felt sick, she was not alarmed.
A few days later, she noticed the bleach smell again, this time from a water carafe in her room. That’s when she confronted her daughter, who admitted to trying to poison her mother for taking away the iPhone. On Friday, police took the girl into custody at the Boulder County juvenile center on two charges of attempted first degree murder.
