Timbaland revealed a truth about his relationship with his former muse, the late R&B star Aaliyah. Timbo and Aaliyah collaborated on some of the biggest hits of the late 90s and early 00s, with Tim always maintaining that his love for his ‘Baby Girl’ was brotherly in nature.
But in a new episode of E!’s “True Hollywood Stories,” Timbaland admits that he had strong romantic feelings for the singer that helped introduce his distinctive sound to millions.
“When I first met Aaliyah–it’s time for the world to hear this, I’m gonna give up a little secret–I was in love with her,” he says. “I said, ‘But I’m not — she just a baby, I’m old.’ I said to myself, ‘I’m just gonna be her brother.’ Oh man, I was fightin’, I was fightin’ a lot–a big war. But I loved Aaliyah.
