Rihanna shocked the world and ruffled a few feathers when she released the official remix to Birthday Cake, off her latest album Talk That Talk. She recently opened up to Ryan Seacrest about her decision on his Kiis FM radio show in LA. She also hooked up with Chris on his remix to Turn Up the Music:

“The first song that came about was ‘Birthday Cake.’ I mean we ended up recording both at the same time and executing them together, but I reached out to him about doing ‘Birthday Cake’ because that’s the only person that really—it made sense to do the record. We did remixes for both of our fans. We want our fans to come together, there shouldn’t be a divide. The music is innocent.”

She continued,

“You know I thought about rappers, and I’ve done that so many times, and the hottest R&B artist out right now is Chris Brown. So I wanted him on the track, and then in turn he was like, ‘Why don’t you do the remix to my track?’ and it was a trade off.”

She added,

“We did two records. One for my fans. One for his fans, and that way our fans can come together. There shouldn’t be a divide. You know? It’s music, and it’s innocent.”

Drake took center ice at the 2012 Tim Hortons NHL All-Star Game in Canadas’ nation’s capital Ottawa, Ontario for a second intermission performance. The game ended in a Team Chara 12-9 Victory over Team Alfredsson. Check Out Drake’s performance below.

DJ Webstar recruits Maybach Music soldier, Wale, and Dorrough for “Drop That A$$.” The club anthem is sure to bring the ratchetness out of some ladies. There is no word on whether this is a part of a new project Webstar is working on.

Russell Simmons Discusses Heavy D’s Influence On Hip Hop

Russell Simmons stopped by VH1′s “Big Morning Buzz Live” earlier today to discuss Heavy D’s influence on hip-hop. Simmons said when he and Uptown Records founder Andre Harrell first listened to “Mr. Big Stuff” they were blown away by Heavy’s vocals and melody. Simmons goes on to say “Heavy was the first R&B rapper to be accepted. They built Uptown records and the new jack swing sound on his ideas.”

Heavy D passed away yesterday at the age of 44.
