Big Boi Gets Off Easy with Court Ordered Community Service and Charity Donation

Big Boi, born Antwan Patton, avoided jail time Thursday by coming to an agreement with the court on his Florida drug charges.

Prosecutors came to agreement which included 3 months of drug testing, community services, and a $2,000 donation to charity.

The 36 year old rapper was arrested getting off a cruise ship back in August when a K-9 dog alerted cops to drugs Big Boi was carrying. The drugs included ecstasy, a cigarette roller with marijuana residue and the ecstasy ingredient MDMA.

Big Boi had faced two felony drug charges. Prosecutors say if he remains drug-free after three months of testing, those charges will be dismissed.

Hopefully he can be kool, lay low, and NOT pull a T.I.

5 Ways T.I. Can Stay Out Of Jail [ORIGINAL]

T.I., has been released from jail for what we hope is the last time. But we also hoped he would stay out after he was released in 2010 and again in August 2011. So instead of just hoping for Tip to stay out of trouble, here are five things we think he can do to stay out of the bing.

Give Him More Guns
In 2007, T.I. was arrested by the feds and charged with two felonies for possession of three unregistered machine guns and two silencers. He was eventually sentenced, and since he was packing so much heat, we can’t help but think that Tip just likes guns. Instead of denying his appetite for weapons, we think it would be a great idea to give him an arsenal of paintball guns, Laser Tag games and Super Soakers to jones on.

Hypnotize Him
If we could hypnotize T.I., we would! While under our mind control we would make him think he’s bulletproof so that he would never feel the need to get guns. We’d just tell him the bulletproof vest is decorative, just ask 50 Cent.

Hire A Reliable Weed Carrier

One of the last times T.I. was arrested he was out making a run for ecstasy and marijuana with the Mrs in his Maybach. This is a baller no-no. No person of his means should be out getting their own stash, especially in a car that costs more than a house. If you can’t find someone to run this errand there needs to be a Mr. Nice Guy franchise started in ATL stat.

Move to Switzerland

The Swiss may have this whole gun thing figured out. While they have no standing army, Swiss men are trained as part of their militia and can keep an automatic weapon in the home. Damn near everyone is strapped so no one is thinking of running up in the next man’s house. As a result, the rate of killings or attempted killings with firearms is about 1 in 250, 000. In Atlanta metro (which is comparable in population to Switzerland) it’s about 34 per 200,000. Not to mention no bank is safer for stashing all of that Paper Trail money.

Do Like Jay-Z & Kanye West

T.I. may need to surround himself with a more positive and uplifting circle. We suggest he link up with his name-a-like Q-Tip, not only for a potential collabo, but for overall positivity. Notice how ‘Ye has stayed out of trouble since he’s been working closely with Jay on Watch The Throne? We think the same could happen for T.I.! His first single with The Abstract could be a club banger called “Just The Tip.”

Word on the street is Gucci Mane has gotten himself into quite a bit of trouble all over again. This time, he’s potentially headed back behind bars after authorities down in Atlanta have confirmed that Gucci Mane (born Radric Davis) is going back to jail for six months. Moments ago, he pled guilty to battery and other charges. Is going to jail, being released and then returning to jail becoming a trend for Hip Hop’s new generation? It appears to be that way, but why?

This latest incident stems back to January 28th when Gucci pushed a female out of his Hummer. We thought he’d learned his lesson the first time around, but apparently not. Stay tuned for more updates on his trip back to the slammer. Here’s my two cents on T.I, who has been released from the Fed. He has moved into a halfway house today. His fans were waiting to greet him, carrying signs with positive messages. It makes you wonder….

I recall the Hip Hop Documentary “The Show”, which came out in 1995. One of the segments was about Russell Simmons going to Rikers Island to visit Slick Rick. Russell said at the time, “I am only going to see Rick for the movie. It makes no sense for someone with that much money to be locked up. I feel the same way about T.I. It’s true that we all make mistakes, but to quote Ed Lover…”Come on, son.”

We know of his terrible loss of his best friend one night here in Cincinnati, which makes you understand his needing to stay strapped…but he was already on federal probation….already had an illegal arsenal – did his time – got OUT – and was so careless with his recently gained freedom that he got popped for getting high and an illegal U turn – in the company of another convicted felon. T.I. has great talent, but appears to be careless and unconcerned about his future, and unconcerned about the example he’s setting for young impressionable fans. We all know T.I. can rap, but if you love him, get him some help.

I truly hope TI, Tiny, Lil Wayne, and others have finally learned their lesson, and will take it down a few notches –for their own lives, careers, and their future, and for the new generation of kids watching them. LIVE LIKE YOU WANT YOUR KIDS TO LIVE!

ATL’s own T.I. is getting out of jail very soon, but the question everyone wants to know is, when?

Hot 107.9′s DJ Drama told our affiliate station, Houston’s 97.9 The Box, that Tip was getting an early release date and would be home August 31, but according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ web site, T.I.’s release date is still listed as September 29th.

He is incarcerated at a federal prison in Forrest City, Arkansas.

A spokesperson with the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that T.I.’s release date is listed as September 29th, but he said its possible that T.I. (born Clifford Harris Jr.) may be released to a halfway house this week, although he would not release that information.

Whenever he gets back home to Atlanta, we want to say welcome home Tip! Now please try to stay out of trouble and keep your butt out of jail!
