Patti LaBelle will be honored at the 2011 BET Awards where she will be presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. The reward recognizes her 50+ years in the music industry, working with her ’60s soul group the Bluebelles, ’70s rock-influenced group Labelle, her solo career in the ’80s and recent run on Broadway in the musical ‘Fela!’
Steve Harvey will also be honored for his philanthropic efforts and will receive the Humanitarian Award.
Performers will include Alicia Keys, Chris Brown and Jill Scott and comedian Kevin Hart will host.
