Snow Emergencies, what do they mean?
County and city snow emergencies and levels
Updated: Feb 10, 2010 8:03 AM EST
Level 1 snow emergencies mean roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow and motorists should use caution.
Level 2 snow emergencies mean only those who think it’s necessary to drive should do so.
Level 3 snow emergencies means all roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel.
Cities, townships and villages do not declare levels. When they declare snow emergencies, it’s generally to ask residents to remove parked cars from streets to assist in snow removal.
