Carl Henry Lindner Jr., one of the Queen City’s most prolific businessmen, financiers and entrepreneurs, has died at age 92. After a swift turn toward serious illness, Lindner, who is known for the empire he built in business, founded and maintained a variety of lucrative companies including the cornerstone of his impressive portfolio, the American Financial Corporation.

Born in Dayton, Ohio in 1919, Lindner died late Monday evening. Known for his role as controlling partner and chief executive officer of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, Lindner was touted not only as a billionaire investor, but Cincinnati’s biggest benefactor.
