Rihanna is set to make her first film feature appearance by joining “Battleship”. Variety reports that the R&B singer has sealed the deal, which was announced on Monday, July 26, with Universal Pictures. Her representative has further confirmed the news to E! Online.

Rihanna is added to the cast ensemble which already has Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard playing a Naval officer and his brother respectively. However, the character that will be portrayed by the “Take a Bow” hitmaker has not been unveiled yet.

Based on Hasbro’s game, “Battleship” will focuses on a massive Naval adventure across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Peter Berg is attached to take the helming duty for the action film, which gets May 18, 2012 release date in the U.S.

Rihanna previously starred in “Bring it On”: All or Nothing” which was released direct-to-DVD. At that time, she did not appear as anyone else but herself.

The announcement was made within the last hour as executive producers of the show Barbara Walters and Bill Goodie also revealed that Obama’s appearance marks the first time a sitting U.S. president has visited a daytime talk show.

So what will President Barack Obama discuss with co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Beha, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd? The majority of the hour-long segment will be devoted to President Barack Obama and he plans to discuss in detail issues surrounding jobs, the economy, the highly publicized and ultimately disastrous Gulf oil spill and even family life inside the White House.

Scheduled to film on this Wednesday, ‘The View’ audience is already excited to share the stage with our president. As a viewer of the show, do you have anything specific that you’re looking forward to hearing President Barack Obama chime in on the show?

East Hampton was full of stars for Russell Simmons’ Art For Life Benefit on Saturday, July 24th.  Alicia Keys showed up along with her soon to be husband, Swizz Beatz, as he accepted the honor for helping underprivileged children.  Keys threw her full support behind her man as she was strapless in purple and Swizz was draped in white.  They looked altogether pregnant.

Other stars that were there included Maxwell & Selita Ebanks, Anthony Anderson & John Legend. In case you are wondering, yes, in the photo below of Alicia and Swizz walking with a young man, that is Swizz’s son, Nasir. He came along as well.

My girl has been off the scene for a looooooooong minute. Then it was rumored she would rejoin her former Fugee family. But I think its safe to say after all this time that these whispers are nothing more than a Hip Hop Fantasy that will never come true. Its been a rough road but my girl hasn’t stopped. She too is on her Musical Quest.

She’s still touring and doing what she loves. Lauryn will be headlining the “Rock The Bells 2010 Music Festival” including A Tribe Called Quest, Wu- Tang Clan, Rakim, Snoop Dogg, KRS 1, Slick Rick and a host of others this August.

Hear her latest single entitled “Repercussions”. Think its safe to say Lauryn’s back or at lease we hope so. Its no secret she’s needed in the industry. 

Right now we can only continue to hope that this is the start to something even more phenomenal that the “Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”.

On The Notorious B.I.G.’s last day alive:

On his mother being a big influence:

“My mother is why I am, who I am today. People can say what they want to say, but I just represent being sucker free, working hard and being positive. I don’t hate on nobody, I’m not a negative individual. I just wake up and I go for mine and I try to work the hardest I can work. I could have gone a lot of different routes, but I decided to go the route of hard work.”

On the motivation to continue after all his success:

“The motivation is to be better. There’s been room for improvement for me as a recording artist even as a producer, as a man, as a mogul.  While Chilli claims things would be much different if she had dated Usher later in her life, the “There Goes My Baby” singer says he essentially found in Tameka what Chilli didn’t want — a family and marriage– years ago.

“What I expected and wanted from her wasn’t what she could give me at the time,” Usher confirmed on a recent airing of VH1 Behind The Music: Usher. “I actually talked about marriage and it didn’t work.”

Fresh off a divorce from Dallas Austin, the father of her son, Chilli was simply not ready for Usher’s goal of tying the knot and becoming a father — something he believes is a result of him not having his father around.

“We just had differences and unfortunately because of baggage that we all carry it just didn’t work out,” says Usher. “It was a relationship that just happened before its time.”

Chilli, agreeing, says her show “What Chilli Wants” would not exist if they had met later in their lives, telling VH1 “What Chilli Wants’ would be titled “What Chilli Has”. “This would be a different type of behind the music.”

As for his relationship with Tameka Foster, the woman he married years after his break up with Chilli and later divorced, Usher says Foster, his former stylist, understood where he was coming from and most important, knew where she stood in his life.

“We started out working together. We built a bond that was very healthy,” says Usher. “I felt that she not only understood my world but understood how to be in it.”
