I’m smelling a lawsuit. 10 year old Nikko says his teacher made him play a slave in his social studies class. He told his mom that students playing slave masters would “look in your mouth and feel your legs and stuff and see if you’re strong.”
His mom, Aneka Burton said: ‘He felt degraded, he was hurt and the kids picked on him later. I feel like that was totally inappropriate – it was racist.’
The Ohio school district is now in hot water but according to a district spokesperson the “slave auction” is part of the school district’s state required curriculum. The school’s principal Scott Schmidt has since apologized to the boy and his family.
