Last night, the huge 62-foot King of Kings statue outside of Solid Rock Church in Monroe was struck by lightning and destroyed. Beyond the metal frame, there is nothing left of the statue.

According to today’s reports, the statue should have absorbed the lightning strike because the statue was grounded. Solid Rock Church officials say they will rebuild the King of Kings and go forward with their Fourth of July celebration as planned although equipment for the celebration was also damaged by fire.
