Exciting and interactive news was sent to my cell phone this morning as word spread about a new feature happening in our nation’s capitol.

There’s a brand new webcam set up to document and chronicle the ongoing construction of the new Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The webcam and additional equipment will publish views of the construction site with images and updates every hour.

Who’s running the camera? You are! Viewers can zoom in and out over a 180-degree panoramic landscape to see all that’s happening hundreds of miles away. Now isn’t that just the coolest thing you’ve ever heard or seen? Have any of your ever been to our nation’s capitol and taken a tour of all of the government landmarks and museums?

It’s already an exciting city and not just because our president lives there. The thing that I’ve always loved and appreciated about Washington, D.C. are both its diversity and ability to look into the future by keeping up with what’s happened to our country in the past.

We can’t expect move forward without looking back and now that this memorial is being erected, I hope that many of us will continue to look back with a forward-thinking mentality at the life, the philosophies and the teachings of a man as great as Martin Luther King Jr.

Have you thought about it that way before? Post your thoughts in the comments section below to chime in and tell me what you think of the monument and all that’s being done to create this experience for the entire world.
