Kanye West Yeezy Season 4 - Front Row/Arrivals

Kanye West and wife Kim Kardashian at the Yeezy Season 4 show.

Kanye West is good at a lot of things. Providing excuses for his outlandish statements aren’t one of them.

For obvious reasons, Kanye came under serious internet shade after he posted a casting call for  “multiracial women only”  for Yeezy Season 4.

But in an interview with Vogue, Ye says it wasn’t about racism or a preference for light skinned women, but instead it was simply about him being at a loss for the right words.

Via Vogue:

“The ten thousand people that showed up [to the casting] didn’t have a problem with it,” West said.

But he insists the concept was not intended to exclude anyone, least of all black women. “How do you word the idea that you want all variations of black?” West said. “How do you word that exactly?”

Ok, Kanye — you could have just said “Black women” and left it at that. We come in all shades.

To be fair, his show did include women of various shades, but of course there’s no telling as to whether or not that was simply a reaction to people dragging him for the notice.

Regardless, the show went on this afternoon. If you have followed the previous Yeezy fashion shows, you know by now that Kanye places the models in a standing formation where they are encouraged not to move until the show is over.

But in the humid September temperatures in New York City, this proved to be a bit of a challenge for the talent with one model fainting from the heat. It didn’t help that in classic Yeezy fashion, he was crazy late.

The timing of the show, of course, was planned to coincide with NYFW, but it also fell in line with his back-to-back sold out shows at Madison Square Garden on Monday and Tuesday night. The collection itself featured his favored color palettes of nude, cream and black with other accent shades such as mustard and camouflage. There were his staple bodysuits (that wife Kim Kardashian loves to wear), hooded coats, thigh-high boots, sweater dresses and more.

The audience was star-studded with some of the top fashion editors, most of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Lala Anthony, Teyana Taylor (who modeled), Anna Wintour, Pharrell Williams and Pusha T all in attendance.
