Kanye West

Kanye West‘s “Famous” just received a major debut treatment.

Not only did it air on the E! Network on Monday (June 27), but the superstar rapper screened the video in multiple locations throughout NYC the same evening:

Following last week’s premiere at the L.A. Forum, “Famous” made controversial waves for featuring nude wax figures in the likeness of Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, Donald Trump, and others. West told Vanity Fare: “[‘Famous’ is] not in support or anti any of [the people in the video]. It’s a comment on fame.”

Swift’s good friend Lena Dunham wasn’t here for the visual, however.

“I don’t have a hip cool reaction, because seeing a woman I love like Taylor Swift (fuck that one hurt to look at, I couldn’t look), a woman I admire like Rihanna or Anna, reduced to a pair of waxy breasts made by some special effects guy in the Valley,” she wrote on Facebook. “It makes me feel sad and unsafe and worried for the teenage girls who watch this and may not understand that grainy roving camera as the stuff of snuff films.”

“Famous” is currently exclusively available to stream on TIDAL.
