Every Child Succeeds and StartStrong Opens Family Groups to All Families in Avondale

Every Child Succeeds (ECS), the region’s 16-year award-winning home visitation program and their perinatal program StartStrong are opening their family groups to all members of the Avondale Community. The family groups are a most effective vehicle for families to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another.

ECS, an originator of the groups, and StartStrong offer family groups, home visitation and pantry services to all of their participants who live in Avondale. The family groups and pantry are now available to all members of the Avondale Community as follows:

The Avondale Family Group is now open to Avondale women who are pregnant or Avondale families with at least one child under three. It meets twice a month at Carmel Presbyterian Church – on the first Wednesday of the month from noon until 2PM, and on the third Wednesday of the month from 4:30 to 6:30PM. The Avondale Caring Network Pantry continues to be a resource for Avondale families who may be short on baby supplies. Families who live in Avondale and have a child age three or younger are welcome to visit the Avondale Caring Network Pantry once a month for items such as diapers and wipes, formula and baby food, bath supplies, diaper bags, and blankets. Families may visit the pantry on Fridays from 10AM to 1PM, and should bring a picture ID, a birth certificate for each child under three, and a paystub or Medicaid card.

ECS is committed to ensuring total community access to these important resources in Avondale – learning together, knowing neighbors, creating community understanding and enjoying what community means.

Reno O’Neal, an actively participating father said,

“The family group is a resource that everyone is not lucky enough to have. I am happy that my son and I can participate in Every Child Succeeds and in the family groups.”

The benefits of home visitation are amplified when combined with community support, parenting groups and pantries, all leading to healthier families and ultimately, healthier communities. The initial learning and mission from the original Avondale group is spreading to other communities, including Lincoln Heights, Price Hill and Corryville/Mount Auburn.

According to Ennis F. Tait, pastor of Church of the Living God and board member of Every Child Succeeds, “We are working diligently to build a pipeline from birth to beyond, connecting communities, empowering and engaging individuals and strengthening families.”
