Floyd Dent settles suit with city of Inkster for $1.4 million

Floyd Dent has settled his lawsuit with the City of Inkster for $1.4 million.

However for Dent, who was beaten by Inkster police in a shocking attack caught on video earlier this year, becoming a millionaire is less important than improving police relations with the communities they are supposed to serve and protect.

Given the choice, Dent would rather be broke and never have had this happen.

Money isn’t everything,” he said. “You can’t buy happiness.”

Smash and grab: Van crashes into marijuana dispensary

A van crashed through a store front on Wyoming Wednesday morning. The target – the Total Medz medical marijuana dispensary.

And it’s a growing problem – not just at marijuana dispensaries – just two weeks ago two liquor stores in southwest Detroit fell victim to the same type of smash and grab.

Thieves crashing trucks right through the building to steal what’s inside.

Highland Park mayor under fire for not paying taxes

The mayor of Highland Park is taking heat for not paying his own property taxes.

As if the water service issues for residents weren’t enough, there’s more mounting pressure for Highland Park Mayor DeAndre Windom to be removed from office.

Resident Kurt Griggs Swanson says there’s legal grounds to do so.

“By him being in default, he’s ineligible to be on the ballot,” Swanson said.

Windom owed Highland Park nearly $3,000 for his 2014 property taxes on two houses. The city turned the case over to Wayne County because he never paid, he however filed paperwork to run for reelection … click here for more details.
