The actress commonly referred to as “the rapping grandma” from Adam Sandler’s 1998 comedy The Wedding Singer passed away earlier this week. Ellen Albertini Dow, the woman behind the hilarious rendition of Sugar Hill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight” in the movie, was 101 years old when she died on Monday (May 4), according to her agent.

Dow was 85 when she appeared in The Wedding Singer and had already had an illustrious career up to that point. She trained as an actor in New York before teaching drama at Los Angeles City College but made it truly big in the last couple of decades. The Wedding Singer role fueled other late-life roles like a spot in both Six Feet Under and, more recently, New Girl.

To commemorate her passing, watch Dow’s killer cover of “Rapper’s Delight” from 1998 below and check out one of her other scene-stealing appearances from the same movie after that.
