Bruce Jenner has finally spoken his truth during his highlpy anticipated interview with Diane Sawyer.

The E! reality star’s gender identity has been in question ever since it was reported in January that he was planning to become a woman.

With no confirmation from him or anyone in his family, any talk about his transition was nothing more than speculation. But Bruce broke his silence tonight, telling Diane, “For all intents and purposes, I’m a woman.”

Bruce, who referred to himself in both male and female pronouns, realizes that it’s been a huge adjustment for the people around him

“People look at me differently. They see you as this macho male, but my heart and my soul and everything that I do in life — it is part of me,” Jenner, 65, said. “That female side is part of me. That’s who I am.”

Bruce, 65, has had quite a bit of time to come to terms with this. He’s known for a long time that he felt like a woman–nearly his entire life. He revealed to Diane that he’s been wearing women’s clothes since he was 8, when he would dress up in items from his mother’s closet.

“I look at it this way—Bruce always telling a lie. He’s lived a lie his whole life about who he is. And I can’t do that any longer,” Jenner said.

“My brain is much more female than it is male,” he added. “It’s hard for people to understand that, but that’s what my soul is.”
