The government isn’t joking about health insurance. If you don’t have coverage, there will be a tax penalty. When you file your 2014 taxes in 2015, you’ll need to prove you had health insurance in 2014. If you can’t prove you had health insurance, get ready for the penalty. The amount varies based on your income and family size. And, guess what? The penalty for 2014 is going to seem like peanuts compared to the one you can face if you don’t get insurance for 2015.

If you already missed having health insurance for 2014, don’t make the same mistake in 2015. We’re teaming up with InHealth Mutual to make sure we don’t have to pay that penalty! InHealth Mutual is Ohio’s only nonprofit, insurance CO-OP and they can help! They have great benefits, a large network that gives you access to lots of Ohio’s health care providers and fair prices. Really. And, they make health insurance easy to choose and use.

No one wants to pay a tax penalty. But having health insurance helps you do more than avoid it. It helps you and your family get healthy and it also helps you budget your money to get ahead. Nothing wrecks your budget faster when you don’t have health insurance than a health crisis pops up that leaves you with huge medical bills you have to pay.

To get the coverage you need and avoid the tax penalty here’s what you can do:

  1. Find out if your insurance coverage protects you from this penalty tax. Call InHealth’s Enrollment Helpline at 1-877-613-4256 to find out. The Helpline is available 8:30am – 5:00pm
  2. If you have coverage, GREAT! They may be able to help save you some cash.
  3. If you don’t have enough coverage, InHealth’s Enrollment Helpline 1-877-613-4256 will get you set so you’ll have health coverage and avoid paying the full penalty tax!

REMEMBER: You only have until February 15th to get health insurance for 2015! Open Enrollment ends everywhere on Sunday, February 15th!
