One of today’s most important novelists, Terry McMillan has always written from an honest place, creating fresh, lively, and often poignant works that are enthralling and inspirational tonic for many contemporary women.
The author of many New York Times bestsellers, her best-known books “Waiting to Exhale” and “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” has sold millions of copies each. Made into successful movies, they have virtually become a cultural phenomenon- initiating the public into the multifaceted world of the contemporary African American woman while also conveying the universal experiences of women of all races. “Everything I write about is empowerment,” she says. And by sharing common hardships and triumphs, she empowers all women to find the honesty, humor, and hope in any situation.
The Radio One Women’s Empowerment Conference will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2014 at Xavier University’s Cintas Center. The conference will offer health screenings, empowerment workshops, national recording artists, and men’s panel featuring one of Hollywood’s most exciting leading men. The Women’s Empowerment Conference will begin at 10 a.m. Terry McMillan will deliver her keynote speech at 3pm to an expected crowd of 5,000 women to celebrate Women’s Empowerment.
