Houston rapper Lil’ Flip is reportedly behind bars after getting busted by police Wednesday (December 26) morning on drugs and a weapon charge.

Details of the arrest surfaced online Wednesday evening.

A Houston rapper stopped this morning for speeding on Interstate 49 in DeSoto Parish is still sitting in a jail cell after deputies allegedly found drugs and a firearm in his possession. Deputies working with the Directed Patrol Unit stopped Wesley Eric Weston, 31, known by his hiphop stage name of Lil’ Flip, for traveling 86 in a 75 mph zone. Weston was the driver of a 2010 Dodge Challenger also occupied by Olanza Sanders, of Shreveport. During a search of the vehicle, deputies found marijuana and a Bushmaster AR-15 assault rifle, Sgt. Chato Atkins said. (The Advertiser)

Reports claim Flip must remain behind bars on over $35,000 worth of bonds.

Weston and Sanders were booked into the DeSoto Detention Center; Weston on charges of third-offense possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and speeding, and Sanders on a charge of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Weston was still in jail this afternoon on bonds totaling $35,300. Sanders is free on a $25,000 bond. Both men have prior narcotics arrests on their rap sheets, Atkins said. Recently, West Coast rapper/singer Troy NoKA crowned Lil’ Flip SOHH Underrated.

“Man, that’s a tough one. I used to love Lil’ Flip. Back in the day, when I was a little kid, I used to think Lil’ Flip was the coolest dude. He was super underrated and making big moves down in Texas. He was young but he had that entrepreneur spirit and making a lot of noise out in Texas. I really feel like back then, he was really underrated. Now when you think of Texas, you see a lot of people that are into [the late] DJ Screw. Drake has made that way more mainstream. But really, it was people like Lil’ Flip that were making that. It was people like Lil Flip and DJ Screw, those guys [blew up the Texas rap scene.] They still don’t get that type of credit now. The youth will probably credit it to Drake or something or A$AP Rocky instead of guys like Lil’ Flip.” (SOHH Underrated)
