Trey Songz will be added a splotch of color to the upcoming horror flick Texas Chainsaw 3D. Speaking with VIBE, Trey says he was happy over becoming apart of the franchise, particularly because he’s the first Black cast member. Yes, I’m already concerned they kill him in the first seven minutes the way we usually go in these kinds of movies, too.
Anyway, Trey tells VIBE about the role:
“What I love about Texas Chainsaw Massacre is that it’s such a classic film [and] the idea of bringing it back to life like it’s never been done before…because it’s 3D and secondly, it’s always been…redone and this is a continuation of the story. I’m the first black person in the film ever.”
On the acting required of him:
“The character wasn’t too heavy. A lot of us musicians get the opportunity to step into the film world. You get offered a lot of starring roles off the rip because of your popularity, your value to what demographic you reach, so alotta the times you see musicians take on the bulk of the film and in that case, the success of the film depends on them and the failure as well.”
Trey added that, “It’s about blood and gore and being frightened.” Find out if Trey survives, and if so, for exactly how long when the Texas Chainsaw 3D hits theaters January 4, 2013.
