WE REMEMBER TUPAC. MAY HIS MUSIC & HIS LEGACY LIVE ON THROUGH US ALL.
Today, a few of your favorite new members from the infamous WizNation Crew (representatives of 101.1 The Wiz & WizNation.com) took time to share their personal reflections on the legendary lyricist we all loved and appreciated – Tupac Shakur. It’s hard to believe that 16 years have gone by and while many of us were just getting started in our entertainment careers, Tupac was busy making music, making magic and making us fall in love with his unique flow and sound straight from the West Coast. Today, we’ll remember his contributions to making Hip Hop what it is today. Without artists like him, many of today’s most popular acts would still be unheard of. Think about that for a moment. What would Hip Hop look like, sound like or feel like if there was never a Tupac Shakur? As hard to fathom as it may be, it’s a reality that we all still face to this day. May his music and his legacy continue to live on through us all. Let’s hear from everyone else below.
Tupac was one of my favorite artist coming up as a kid. Thats all my cousins and older siblings played at great grandmas house. Songs like "All Eyes On Me" and "Keep Your Head Up" where some just to name a few. Tupac, You Will Be missed. We at 101.1 will forever love your music and the positive things you stood for.
Tupac’s legacy to me is extremely important to Hip Hop. Biggie could ride the hell out of a beat, that’s fact, but Pac brought a sense of consciousness to rap like no one else could do. In the way that he delivered it, he was a lyricist. He read and spoke from wisdom and truth. It was brilliant. Just like anybody from the hood though, he had hood experience – so quite naturally that was also delivered in his flow. Ultimately, Tupac is one of the greatest artists to live. He made us mad, he made us laugh, cry, think, and celebrate. I appreciate his music and respect his passion. I recognize what he was attempting to do for his generation and those to follow. He was a messenger. RIP.
Tupac’s lyrical content wasn’t all about the glamorous lifestyle that the majority of artists talk about now in their raps. He kept it real which showed by as an artist and also as a human being you don’t have to do certain things in life to be respected or even noticed. he also had enough courage to stay in his own lane and make records like “Brenda’s Got a Baby” and “Dear Momma” – both of which will be recognized as long as Hip Hop is on the face of this earth. From graduating from the School of Creative & Performing Arts with a gold flat-top hairstyle to the fearless nose ring, Tupac inspired me to be comfortable in my own shoes and create my own image based on what I feel fits me – not what others say or do. The life of Tupac ended sadly and way too soon, but from then on a lot of lessons were learned. Gone, but never forgotten, Tupac’s voice will forever live in Hip Hop and will be highly appreciated by many inside and outside of the community.
