Elementz brand new facility has been unveiled to the public. The staff along with their many mentee’s was elated as they kicked off a new phase to Elementz Hip Hop! Smiles seem to be on everyone’s faces. If it wasn’t teeth that greeted you it was music being sung or break-dance moves to showcase their excitement. The Hip Hop Center sits directly across from the School for Creative and Performing Arts, at 1100 Race Street. I was given a guided tour by the Developmental Manager, Derek Peebles. Every room had something unique to offer. There was the audio recording room, music production room, hip hop dance room, and a graffiti style street art room. Not to mention the rooftop patio is equipped with a garden, BBQ pit and Cincinnati downtown skyline. While there was no meat on the grill a few of the children including DJ Entity, mentor DJ Apryl Reign and myself cooked up some live entertainment for the remaining audience members in the building.
Akhe Abdullah- Elementz Creative Director said in a recent interview “Elementz is doing the job of helping Cincinnati embrace Hip Hop in a positive way and helping the young people to express themselves in that way as well.”
Elementz Hip Hop Youth Center hours of operation are Monday- Thursday, 2:30pm- 8pm. Membership costs $10 a year and allows access to all programs. For further inquiries please call 513-721-5800. To view all the fun we had on Opening Night click here.
